Uganda Gorilla Tracking, Chimpanzee trekking, Wildlife Safari

DAY 1: ON ARRIVAL | HOTEL TRANSFER 
When you arrive at Airport, our guide will be there to drive you to your hotel room in Kampala where you will spend the night and have your dinner too. But if you arrive early, then the guide will take you for the Kampala City tour and this trip takes you to places like the famous Kasubi Tombs, the Uganda Museum, African Craft Market, Namirembe Cathedral, Mandela stadium, to mention but a few of them . You will not be visiting all these places but rather a few of them depending on how much time you will have. Then in the evening, you will check-in at your hotel which will be one of your own choice depending on your budget

DAY 2: DRIVE TO MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK
Breakfast will be served at the hotel where you spent the night and after breakfast, you will go meet your guide so you can start on your trip to Murchison National park and you will go through the famous Luwero triangle or Hoima towards Masindi. You will go through the park and stop at the top of the falls from where you will have the best view of the falls as the water forces its way over and through the narrow gap rocks. From the top of the falls, you will see the longest river in the world forcing its self through narrow gaps of the rock before ferociously plunging down 43 meters. DAY 3:  UGANDA SAFARI GAME DRIVES | BOAT CRUISE –  RIVER NILE
You will just have a cup of tea when you wake up early morning game drive on the northern bank where your guide will help you spot elephants in plenty, may be lions, Cape buffalo, Rothschild’s giraffes, hartebeests, water-bucks, oribi, bush-bucks, hyenas may or not be spotted, and if you are one of the lucky ones, you might see the leopards. By mid morning, you will be through and returning to the lodge for your full breakfast and after that, you will have time to relax as you wait for your lunch. After lunch, you will take an afternoon trip to the bottom of Murchison Falls. This boat trip along the Nile is often considered ad the highlight of a trip to Murchison because you get up-close and personal with the animals especially the water animals since there are over 4,000 hippos that you will see, a number of huge Nile crocodiles. When it comes to birds, there are the brightly colored kingfishers and bee-eaters darting along the riverbanks and sometime the rare shoe-bill is spotted too. The boat rides ends at the bottom of the falls and that place has an impressive view. After taking some pictures, you will ride back to the shores and drive back to the lodge

DAY 4: DRIVE TO KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK |  FORT-PORTAL
On this day, you will be driving to Kibale National park therefore, immediately after your breakfast at the lodge; you will start on your journey to Kibale National park. The journey takes more than 6 hours which means you will take a break and have your lunch when it gets to lunch time. You will drive through the country side and will arrive in Fort portal town in the late afternoon and head straight to your hotel. you will spend the night at

DAY 5: CHIMPANZEE TREKKING | NATURE WALKS
You need to report to Kanyankyu tourist centre before 8:00 am for a briefing done before you proceed to the forest for Chimp Tracking. Kibale forest has over 13 species of primates like the L’Hoest, red Colobus monkey, blue monkey, grey mangabeys, baboons, black faced vervet monkeys, bush babies and many others. The vegetation cover is of shady forest trails that provide much to the botanists and those that love butterfly. For those that are interested in watching birds, Kibale is also a great place as there are about 335 species recorded. Other animals include the elusive forest elephant which are smaller in size and with some fur, there are buffaloes, giant forest hog and a half dozen antelope species are found in that forest. Chimpanzee trekking take about 4 hours and so you will be out of the forest by lunch time. You will have your lunch after you will go for a nature walk in the Bigodi swamp which is a home to numerous bird species. In the evening, you will return to the lodge for the night and dinner

DAY 6: DRIVE TO QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, you will drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park and enter the park through the Northern crater Area thus the perfect time to visit the crater region of Queen Elizabeth park. This park has a high population and very many types of wildlife and the vegetation ranges from the open Savannah to Rain forest, dense swamps and beautiful crater lakes to the vastness of Lake Edward. There re animals like the Hippos, Lions, Buffaloes, Leopard, Spotted Hyena and the elusive giant forest hog. There are more than 606 species of bird life among which are the martial eagle, black-rumped buttonquail, Verreaux’s eagle owl and African skimmer, among others. Meanwhile, the primates include the Chimps, Black and white Colobus Monkeys, Blue, Black Faced Red Colobus, and Red Tailed monkeys and Olive Baboons. In the afternoon, you will check out the cater lakes region in the park, visit the Katwe Lake salt mine to see how salt is locally and traditionally mined and then later drive to the lodge of your budget, check-in, clean up and wait for your dinner

DAY 7: GAME DRIVE | BOAT CRUISE – KAZINGA CHANNEL – QUEEN ELIZABETH
You will wake up very early in the morning and go for an early morning game drive along the Kasenyi miles just before some of the animal go back into hiding. You will search for the lions, hyenas, leopards, water bucks and many antelopes, Uganda kobs, there will be buffaloes, elephants, hippos will be spotted where you get closer to the water body. You will also see numerous bird species and then later return to the lodge for breakfast at midmorning and at lunchtime; you will have your lunch. In the afternoon, you will go for a boat trip along the kazinga channel which gives you the opportunity to view wildlife up close like the hippo’s huff just feet away from the boat, buffalo linger in the shallow water. The shores of the channel are also home to an array of birds like the pink backed pelicans, pied and malachite kingfishers, saddle billed stork and many others. After that you will head back to the lodge

DAY 8: CHIMPANZEE TREKKING – KYAMBURA GORGE | DRIVE TO BWINDI FOREST
Take breakfast and then go for a morning chimp tracking in the Kyambura gorge. You will be given a ranger to walk with you in the forest and help you locate the chimpanzees and an encounter with these more closely related apes to human is really an exciting adventure. You will watch them in their family, feed their little ones and play with them and then later walk out of the forest, have the lunch break and after lunch, it will be time to drive to Bwindi impenetrable forest. You will drive through the Ishasha sector which is the southern part of Queen Elizabeth Park where the tree climbing lions are found. You will have a short drive searching for these ishasha tree-climbing lions before continuing on to Bwindi which is a home to the few remaining mountain gorillas, though there are also lots of bird species and other primates as well as beautiful of flora. DAY 9:  GORILLA TREKKING – UGANDA
This day is for gorilla tracking and so you will wake up very early in the morning, have your break fast, have your packed lunch and then go assemble at the starting points to be briefed by your rangers about gorilla tracking. Then you will proceed to the forest for the tracking. The time taken to encounter these primates can not be predicted thus the reason you have to carry your lunch, it may take you 1-10 hours. When you meet them, you will have an hour to spend with the gorillas to watch them play, care for their young ones, also may see the silver back which the leader of a particular gorilla family. Alter on, you will walk out of the forest and return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

DAY 10: BWINDI FOREST | KAMPALA – HOTEL
After breakfast, you will start on your journey back to Kampala. The drive takes 8-10 hours and so lunch will be somewhere along the way like in Mbarara and the only other stopover may or not be at the Equator in Masaka if you are interested. Then You will be transferred to Entebbe for dinner and over night at any of the below hotel on bed and breakfast basis;

DAY 11:  NGAMBA ISLAND | ENTEBBE WILDLIFE EDUCATION CENTRE
Your driver will come pick you up from your hotel and drive you to the shores of Lake Victoria to meet your 9.00am or 12:45 boat to Ngamba Island. The boat trip takes about 45 minutes-1 hour across to Ngamba Island, you will cross the equator too while sailing. The island is a home to a number of orphaned chimpanzees. The chimpanzee guides will give you a simple briefing on chimpanzee when you arrive and later you will assemble at the visitor plat foam to watch the chimpanzee feeding. This is a fascinating time to watch them whilst they feed. In this short time you are there, you will be able to see such different personalities amongst these animals, with some whistling for food and others clapping. Obviously the ideal option would be to re-introduce these orphaned chimpanzees to the wild however this is not possible for a number of reasons and the sanctuary is not bad for second best. You will return to the mainland before driving to the Entebbe Wildlife Education Centre (zoo) where they have replicated some of the country’s ecological zones such as Savannah, wetlands and tropical forest so that they can be able to accommodate different animals, birds and reptiles that survive under different environment conditions. If you have missed out on the shoe-bill in the wild, this is the place you will find it as well as rhino if you did not visit the rhino sanctuary. You will return to your hotel in the afternoon or evening for the night

DAY 12; KAMPALA CITY TOUR IF YOU MISSED IT ON DAY 1 | DEPARTURE
When you wake up, you will have breakfast and depending on your departure time, you will be transferred to airport 2 hour before your departure time. This marks the end of  Uganda Safari your trip with AA safaris and tours.
