A bigger group from Uganda attends the Berlin expo

A number of tour operators form Uganda to the annual ITB Berlin travel and tourism exhibition this year which began on March 6th has increased after a long period of time.

The group of Ugandans has been led by the minister of Tourism, wildlife and Antiquities, Maria Mutagamba with 22 tour operators, and Sheraton hotel.ITB is one of the famous leading travel and tourism expos which attract around 100,000 visitors.

Edwin Muzahura the spokesperson of UTB said the country has been attending the ITB for the last 10 years and this has attracted a number of visitors from Germany to Uganda. In 2011, Uganda received 8,960 visitors from Germany out of the 32,960 tourists from Europe.

In 2012, Uganda’s expo stand was voted among the best stands from Africa at ITB and this year it has increased its space to 100 meters trading under the theme Uganda the Pearl of Africa your eco-tourism destination.

To advance Uganda’s visibility during the expo, the government for the first time has used the services of Ndere cultural troupe to entertain guests at the stand and during the cocktail.
