Air Uganda acquires a new aircraft

Latest news from Air Uganda yesterday got their third Bombardier CRJ 200 aircraft which was leased from American aircraft leasing company called GECAS and with this, the airline now has a total of four aircrafts that Air Uganda now has, including one remaining MD 87 aircraft which is the only aircraft on the fleet with a two class that’s Business and Economy layout.

This latest aircraft just like the other two, the craft can carry 50 passengers all in economy class. This craft will enable the airline to be able to meet their promise of having a third daily flight to Juba as it will be flying from Entebbe via Kilimanjaro to Mombasa and hopefully, this will lead to an increase in the number of travelers and there will more opportunities to catch the flight.

Air Uganda was launched in 2007and today, there are flights from Entebbe, as quasi national airline of Uganda, to Nairobi, to Dar es Salaam, Kilimanjaro, Mombasa, Kigali, Bujumbura and then to Juba. According to source, Air Uganda is planning on adding Mogadishu which is the capital of Somalia to their destination especially now that there are business opportunities that are now opening up for Ugandan entrepreneurs and traders thus necessitating a scheduled direct flights from Entebbe without having to travel via Nairobi or other airports .

According to Cornwall Muleya, the current CEO of Air Uganda as CEO said to the new aircraft will be very important in making all their operations to the newly planned routes very possible as well as ensuring quality service provision in current network. The acquisition of the new aircraft is seen as an achievement by the airline, he added.
