DAY 1: DRIVE TO KISORO
Our tour guide / driver will come pick you up from where you will be, he will brief take you through the trip and then start on your journey to Kisoro which is in the western part of the country. You will have a lunch break somewhere like in Mbarara and afterwards proceed through the magnificent scenery of Kabale with views of mountains, lakes, hills with cultivated terraces, tropical rainforest and bamboo forest. Your final destination will be in kisoro close to the Virunga Volcanoes and your night will be at;
Budget – Virunga Hotel/ Nkuringo safari Centre / Kisoro Tourist Hotel/ Amajembere IWACU community camp
Standard – Travelers’ Rest Hotel / Gorilla safari lodge/ Chameleon hill lodge
Luxurious – Clouds Lodge /Mt Gahinga Volcanoes Lodge
DAY 2: GORILLA TREKKING | MGAHINGA NATIONAL PARK
This day is for gorilla tracking and so breakfast will be served early, carry packed lunch and then have your drive take you for briefing at the park’s headquarter/ ranger station before 8:00 am. The guides / guide that will be allocated to your group will then take you through the bush, pushing your way through the undergrowth, parting thick creepers to search for the gorillas. The walk may take 2-8 hours before you can meet the gorillas thus it requires a reasonable degree of fitness as well as a sturdy pair of ankle level hiking boots. The ranger will guide you as he may have an idea about where they might be rather than walking the entire forest, he will give you all the information you may need about the gorillas themselves, different plants, among other attractions and when you encounter, you will have a n hour to spend with them, listening to them grumble to each other, and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male; the silver-back. This is really an extraordinary feeling sitting in the dense rain-forest. After an hour, you will walk back to the lodge; wait for your dinner and overnight at your lodge
DAY 3: MT. HIKE | MGAHINGA VOLCANO
For those that love hiking, Gahinga is one great to enjoy your hiking from and so after breakfast, carry you hiking gear, you will go for hiking and after your briefing about the hiking of Gahinga Volcano, you will start your climbing adventure. This exercise takes about a 6 hrs and hike a distance 8km and height of 3474m and an altitude of 1100m above sea level. Later when you come down to the starting point After this trekking experience, you will be transferred back to your lodge for dinner and over night or if the trek ends early, you will be transferred to Kabale to relax and also shorten the distance between Kampala and Kisoro
DAY 4: DEPARTURE
Immediately after breakfast, you will start on your journey back to Kampala. Lunch break will be somewhere along the way and when you get to Masaka , you will take a stop over a the Equator to take some picture and then proceed. You will later be transferred to the airport if you have a flight to catch back at home or drop you somewhere in Kampala if you have booked another night in Uganda.
