Mountain Gorilla tracking is probably one of the most exciting wildlife experiences on earth. Depending on the time you return to the lodge, you may or not go participate in a guided village walk to interact with the indigenous Batwa Community and then later return to the lodge for dinner. Your hotel will in most cases be the same where you spent the previous night.
The driver/ guide will pick you up from your hotel in Kampala and then drive you in the southwestern direction of the country where Bwindi impenetrable national park famously known for being home to over 1000 mountain gorillas is located.
The drive takes about 10 hours and the largest part of the park is covered by the Montane Forest which creates a beautiful view, it is also home to more than 500 bird species, among which are 23 out of the 24 Albertine Rift endemics plus the African Green Broadbill, Bar Tailed Trogon, and other gorgeous forest species.
Bwindi gets its name from a Lukiga word which, means impenetrable. This place was gazette as a Forest reserve n 1942 and then it became a national park in 1992 and then later in 1994, it was recognized as a world heritage site.
Along the way, you will have a stop over at the Equator to take some pictures and also carry out some experiments while in the southern and the northern hemisphere. From here, you will proceed to Mbarara, this where you will have your lunch and after the lunch break, you will continue with the journey, drive through Uganda’s rolling green hills, a place often referred to as ‘Switzerland of Uganda’ just before reaching to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. You will spend the night at the hotel of your choice, most of which are located inside the park while a few of them are outside the park.

Mid-range accommodation – Mahogany springs lodge/ Lake Kitandara camp/Nkuringo camp site
Upmarket / Luxury accommodation – Engagi lodge /Gorilla Resort camp/Silver back lodge / Gorilla Forest Camp / Clouds Lodge
On your second day, you will have breakfast early enough and then have your driver take you to the park headquarters before 8:00 am to be briefed about gorilla tracking. You will be allocated in groups and then given rangers who will walk with you in the jungle as you search for these habituated mountain gorillas, They will provide you with all the information that you may need about the flora and fauna that you will meet in the jungle and this exercise takes between 4-6 hours which means, you will have to leave the hotel with your lunch boxes.
With all the required gears for tracking, you walk into the jungle and once you meet the gorillas, you will have an hour to sit in the jungle to watch the gorillas care for their little ones, feed them, play with them and each other, so you can take as many pictures as you wish to have. Later after that hour, you will walk out of the forest back to the hotel.

After a morning breakfast, you will depart from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, back to Kampala. You will stop to have lunch and then continue so that you are in Kampala early evening and if you have a flight to catch, the driver will drop you at the airport or at the hotel of your choice if you are still in the country.
