Uganda fuel prices increase again

The fuel pump prices in Kampala,Uganda have increased by USH200 because the country has been waiting for the results of the Kenya elections. Fuel stations like Shell, Mogas, Kobil and Total have increased their pump prices of diesel and petroleum products leading to an increase in transport fees within Kampala

The pressure ahead of Kenya polls has led to increment and many dealers have stopped importing fuel through Mombasa which is the main route and this has affected the supply.

Mr. Matte Rogers a dealer at one of the shell fuel stations said the government fuel tanks have not been prepared so the dealers with fuel to increase on the prices.

After elections, there will be no movement of trucks to avoid risks and though the dealers can reserve fuel for a week, there will be little or no supply past that period therefore a shortage.

The price of the patrol is between Ush3850 and Ush3, 890 a liter depending on the seller and the area while diesel is between Shs3550 and 3600.
