Uganda Tourism board gets a new Chairman

James Tumusiime has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Uganda Tourism Board. Tumusiime is also the Managing Director of Fountain Publishers Limited and founder of the Igongo Cultural Centre in Biharwe, western Uganda and he is coming in after William Byaruhanga who was the chairperson until his term ended in 2011. Tumusiime as the new chairman will be working together with his board serving people for the next three years.

The new Board of Trustees is composed of 10 Ugandans and it was officially launched by Maria Mutagambwa who is the tourism minister last week. Other members include Dr. Andrew Seguya who is the Executive Director at Uganda Wildlife Authority; there is Roger Wamara from Turkish Airlines, Ismail Sekandi the proprietor of Rwizi Arch Hotel and Vice President Uganda Tourism Association as well as Mr. Amos Wekesa the Managing Director Great Lakes Safaris.

The rest of are Ms Lilly Ajarova who is the Executive Director Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary, Tom Wasswa, the Marketing Manager, Civil Aviation Authority, Vivian Lyazi, the Principal Tourism Officer and spokesperson of the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, together with one representative from the finance ministry and the National Planning Authority and lastly is Cuthbert Baguma who is the current Chief Executive Officer at UTB and will be the Board Secretary by virtue of his position. Hopefully, there will be more benefits from the coming term of this new chairman and be able to improve the industry to better standards with more revenue
