The History of Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Within the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary the rhinos, are at all times patrolled as well as monitored by Rhino Fund. The rangers are well trained Ugandans who are armed and their core responsibility is the safety of these rhinos (which are physically watched by armed rangers each day of the week all the 24 hours of the day to purposefully collect data.

 

Tracking of Rhinos within Ziwa Sanctuary

This is conducted all throughout the day until 6:00pm. Visitors will certainly be amazed once their vehicle comes to a stop and they have to continue on foot to personally observe these wonderful creatures face to face. . The mission of Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is to offer a safe environment in which the rhinos will be able to multiply as well as be conserved for the generations to come. in addition a programme has been initiated not only to conserve but also to educate and empower the community so as to inform the local people of Uganda and visitors afrom around the world about these amazing rhinos which internationally are few in number and make sure they continue to be part of the rich cultural heritage of Uganda for several future generations.
